Surely anyone who kicks off at an airport can only expect to be dealt with severely. Ever since 9/11 it’s been like going through a detention centre ffs

I expect armed police to use as much force as necessary. In such a high security area I’m sure police in other countries might have even used their weapons.
I thought it would start to get turned around on the Police…”Yeah we headbutted a guy and broke a police officers nose, but they were so rough”.

It became apparent shortly after footage first emerged that the police were justified to use force. Excessive force is tough to determine from footage because we honestly do not know how rough those guys were being. We can only surmise from the police’s account. Even then, those guys were assaulting the police in an airport, they could not expect to be treated with kid gloves.
It was not excessive force .Now would people think it was excessive if it was used on the Southport rioters?? I think many people would find it so ..
Before people come in and say you should never kick someone in the head. The guy was tackled to the ground, got up quickly, turned and saw the guy still on the ground. He didnt know he was tasered or not moving. He had adrenaline coursing and made sure the guy would not get up.
If he hadn’t and the guy got up he’s putting people in the airport and himself in danger. Same people saying he should nkt have kicked him are ones also taking the piss out of a the final girl in horror movies for not making sure ghostface is out of action before turning their back on them
Watching the new footage, they are honestly lucky to be alive. I am pretty sure they would have been shot in the US.
Unlawful force? It’s an armed officer in an airport. They got off lightly

Reminder that shortly after this incident, about 200 people from the Pakistani community gathered outside Rochdale police station to denounce the police as ‘racist’ and the local Labour MP tweeted his concern about the officer’s conduct and also met with the family. Embarrassing.
the police should never, under any circumstance, be booting an already tased and restrained person in the head. it is absolutely unlawful and excessive force.
Guy started shit and deserves conviction, however stamping on a clearly unconscious guys head a couple of times is pretty clear brutality in my book.
Better boot than shoot.
Though I’m ambivalent either way considering he grabbed for the gun
If you attack a Police Officer who has right to detain you, you should get no sympathy
The guy headbutted someone in the airport then punched a female officer in the face during apprehension. It was clear that force was required.
Bloke kicked him in the face and stamped on his head while he was on the floor with his hands behind his back. If someone did that after a drunken scuffle you’d have people screaming attempted murder but when it’s a highly trained law enforcement officer we… hold them to a lower standard?
“It was the heat of the moment” You’re supposed to be trained to be level-headed in tense situations. If you can’t do that, you shouldn’t have the job. I don’t care how much of a dickhead the offender is or how much they might deserve a beating.
Honestly, we’ve Americanised a lot of stupid shit in this country. Can we not make minimising police brutality one of them?
Had the police officer just shot the guy and said “I thought he was going for my gun when he severely attacked my colleagues and then both attackers turned on me” we’d just accept that and move on.
He just got king hit in the back of the head which can kill, even if they seriously tried to convict he could just say he was concussed and did not even realise what he did
Fuck both of these animals. If they will bash cops and ko a police woman, what would they do to you or your loved ones?
If you attack a man with a gun expect to be shot. The armed officer didnt know if this idiot was going to try and take his gun. He was well withing his rights to shoot him on the spot. The fact this is even being investigated is a joke.
The officer clearly kicked one of the guys on the ground in the head while tasered. People trying to deny it are mental.
And here come the downvotes…
Some force was clearly justified.
This force wasn’t.
Yes, this does matter.
No, it isn’t that hard to remember that stamping on helpless people is against the rules.
