I moved into a house and found this unfamiliar type of socket laying around. It is all around the house on almost each wall, some even have these on each end.
Tried to google what it supposed to be but no luck. Anyone know what was it used for?

From what I could gather, it seems to be generic low-voltage socket that was used in door traffic control switches, intercoms, and other similar communication or signaling devices.
