  1. [The Volts podcast covered this in some depth;](https://www.volts.wtf/p/pakistans-solar-boom) they have a full transcript at the link for those who prefer to skim text. They’re deploying solar at every scale, and the knowledge of how to deploy them is widespread. People in developing countries are currently very skillful in getting infernal combustion engines to work with improvised parts maintenance, the next generation will be just as skilled with electrical systems. I believe it will profoundly raise their standard of living.

    > So you go to a village and it’s amazing. You know, you go and there’s like this tire shop, somebody who’s repairing tires for a motorcycle or for a cycle. And the guy opens the shop in the morning, he picks up the shutter, and then he brings out a solar panel and, you know, sort of attaches it with a stick and makes it stand straight. And there are two wires going into a battery, and they’re there giving him the light for his small bulb and maybe a fan.

  2. The roi for a full western style off grid system with panels and LFP storage is under years. It’s basically free money for anyone able to afford the initial investment.

  3. >Things really took off last year when an oversupply of solar panels from China flooded the Pakistani market and pushed prices for this technology way down. Pakistanis were quick to buy them up.

So there’s a lot of demand… but also an oversupply…

    Make it make sense please.
