June is here, which can only mean one thing for high society: Royal Ascot is upon us. Returning under skies of glorious sunshine, the world-class racing event will see the upper echelons descending upon the racecourse to enjoy five days of equestrian excellence.
Notably, Ascot is highly-attended by the Royal Family. Though it’s been announced that the Princess of Wales won’t be attending this year, perhaps due to her ongoing recovery from cancer, other members of the monarchy are sure to been seen in the enclosures, continuing the tradition much-loved by the late Queen Elizabeth. King Charles III, Princess Beatrice and Zara Tindall have already made their appearances on the first day of this year’s races, while celebrities will also take the opportunity to attend and soak up the vibrant atmosphere
Aside from the society crowd, Ascot has become renowned for its display of formal attire. The dress codes remain as traditional as always; for the Royal Enclosure, hemlines must fall just above the knee or below, shoulders should be appropriately covered, and of course, hats must be worn. Cue a parade of show-stopping, structural headwear crafted by British milliners.
If you’re heading to the races this year, find our guide to Ascot dressing here, including all the sartorial inspiration you need to see before attending. Below, find the best-dressed guests that have graced the racecourse so far.
