Labour (!!) trying fight Reform on their own terms is one of the stupidest pieces political nonsense of the current news cycle. Or maybe a master stroke so profound no pleb like me can see it’s genius.
Absolute state of them.
Was always gonna happen. He just not winning swaths of urban area, in what’s a fairly urbanised country.
Liberals, minorities and women aren’t going to vote for him en Masse. Can’t win the Uk without those groups
People need to realise that Farage doesn’t actually want to be PM. Every election he has ever been in has been engineered to either not matter (Euro elections, being MP for Clacton in a party of 5) or to be ‘valiantly’ lost. The man is a potential whiner with no constructive plans.
Everything that Labour does. Every word that spews out of Starmer’s mouth. Their amazing ability to just magically do or say the absolute worst idea that can possibly be conjured up.
Is Starmer somehow a Russian spy or something, set out to cause maximum destabilisation of the UK.
They said the same about UKIP back in 2015, frankly at this point everyone in the country has made up their mind about Farage, he’s like marmite.
Last year Sir John Curtice mapped the UK into[ six voter groups](https://natcen.ac.uk/news/new-research-natcen-defines-six-uk-voter-types-ahead-general-election), he said Reform would peak at about 25% of the vote at an election.
While I’m sure they are correct that Labour ,like any party, will take note of its rivals , you’d have thought that such an article might mention a few things Labour has actually done as a result of this ‘obsession’ that it shouldn’t have done.
There’s a decent chance Reform won’t even exist by the next election. We haven’t had a government willing to take the risk of ignoring the lunatic fringe for two decades now, and it’s almost destroyed the country.
Go back to your curtain-twitching, swingers weekends and *legitimate concerns*, and let the grown ups do democracy.
The only thing less predictable than stock markets is politics. And I wouldn’t listen if someone told me that the stock price had definitely topped out even if I didn’t like the stock.
>Lord Robert Hayward has told The Independent that recent council by-election results, where Reform lost while defending seats, coupled with a small fall in the polls, suggest that Nigel Farage’s march to Downing Street at the next general election is facing some serious questions.
wow, some in depth analysis from our leading pollster there.
That definitely doesn’t sound like famous last words or anything
I kind of get it. Even though there’s a high max. It’s not high enough to form a government.
The next election is gonna be a shambles. The votes are gonna be split all over the place
Reform will destroy this country try and sell it to the USA …do not believe the Russian trolls
*Skip forward to the next government being super xenophobic and favouring millionaires*
See it’s really funny because Labour and Starmer are no different and would also sacrifice the life of every working class person for a vote and a Tenner
I hope Reform win.
Two major parties get destroyed at Next election.
Legit laughable people still insist on voting for Labour who are the weakest rotten government I seen and it WILL get worse with them in. They cannot govern.
Some here saying they should go into coalition with Lib Dems. Utterly clueless.
He was an absolute charisma vacuum in ‘I’m A Celeb’ bloke went on that to eat kangaroo cock to be PM and finished 6th if I’m not mistaken.
He isn’t Boris (to whom I strongly dislike) nor a Trump (again to whom I dislike).
Those two have charisma (both lying pos I know) Farage really doesn’t. There’s a reason he fails outside of just being a ‘leader’ of the spoiler vote (UKIP) now Reform.
How many attempts to be an MP?
Kier & Kemi are hilariously lacking themselves in the charisma and personality factor. So much so PMQS is like a bore off every Wednesday between those two.
Farage does well to bullshit, however the whole Brexit ordeal I think will heavily hurt him and the lack of a Boris type bullshitter who was able to connect woth people because of ‘his funny hair’ (I know someone who voted for Boris in 2019 general election because they “liked his hair”) !
In conclusion hopefully Farage won’t ever be PM. However, with Kemi as opposition ‘leader’ lol and Kier (lol) as PM with Robert Generic probably being the Tory ‘leader’ come 2029 I think Farage more than ever has a shot. Ssdly.
Reform can’t control a party of 5 MPs and their councillors don’t seem to want the job. So how can they be expected to win an election?
Farage’s support will increase again when he stops being such a wet blanket.
We’re at a seriously confusing time in UK politics where the leader of Britain’s so-called “far-right” party is usually more centrist than the neo-lib Labour PM.
This is damaging both party’s reputations. Although there’s some overlap between Reform and Labour voters (a lot of Farage’s support comes from patriotic, working-class Britons who no longer feel represented by Labour), Farage is betraying his base by trying to be more Blairite, and Starmer is alienating his left-wing supporters by tacking to the centre.
Strange times we live in.
In politics, that is a pretty stupid thing to claim. Same was said about Trump.
It’s hard not to obsess when the gutter press are pushing Farage in our faces constantly and publishing theses stupid polls.
Reform may have topped out – but have Labour reached the floor?
If Labour voters stay home because they are pissed off with the direction of the Party and Starmers leadership – then that could cause real damage to their re-election prospects.
I absolutely detest them, but calling the party “Reform” really was a genius bit of marketing. If I were Starmer I would never say… (insert public service or policy, etc)… needs “reform”
Claims that the UK public are right wing or authoritarian are missing the point. The stats show that no one gave a toss about Brexit until Murdoch and Putin started to push it.
The Truth is that the UK public, on mass, are pretty f ing stupid and easy meat for propagandists.
This used to be Murdoch and Viscount Rothermere but now its Putin and China.
For some reason MI6 is not protecting the UK at all.
It hasn’t “topped out”
Reform are making less noise since the Yusef business.
Make of that what you will but I believe something has changed in the ideology or behind the scene mechanics of Reform prior to this that led Yusef to say it isn’t worth his time to get Reform into power before pivoting down.
Reform has definitely not “topped out”. As the country gets worse and worse people will flock to reform. The general election will be a landslide.
I started to get the same idea when Reform started their recent LGBT-related headbanging. I’d say pretty much everyone likely to share their views on immigration has already made up their mind, and they’re not going to win anyone else over by being homophobic. I just don’t think there’s enough anti-gay feeling among the British public these days that doesn’t already overlap with their anti-immigrant stance.
There are a lot of recommendations here to labour or tory about how they should best fight reform but I think this way of thinking is outdated. The entire fight exists within social media spaces, which political parties can only control via making their own (truth social) or having influencers on their team. It’s a sad state of things. I don’t know where we go from here.
Labour needs to start enacting optimistic visions for the working classes of this country and stop trying to chase Reform voters or continue with the status quo that does not distinguish them enough from the previous government.
All that is doing is validating Farage/Reform and pissing off the left to the point that they are now migrating out to other parties.
The Government needs to step in and revise laws around party donations and prevent foreign interests.
A further effort needs to take place to bolster cyberspace intelligence and security to track down and prevent botfarms from pushing political narratives with heavy fines or outright bans levied at companies that allow this to continue on their platform.
Was always obvious. Labour were helping Reform by legitimising their platform trying to chase them. It was so dumb.
Ultimately Reform are the UKs MAGA and their core voter base should just be ignored completely.
