  1. That’s ok, let’s just throw some more money at it and see if it works doing that again

  2. Its a 1% decrease. Probably mostly due to the aging population and younger people leaving for England for work/ uni

  3. That article does my head in, constantly switching between % and then actual numbers like there’s possibly no way they could mean different things.

    Also.

    >According to the Welsh Government, however, this decrease is not statistically significant, and should be interpreted with caution due to a change in the survey mode between the two periods, and the temporary suspension of the accredited official statistics status of the APS as a result of increasing uncertainty outlined above.

  4. Looking at the graph, it’s not a significant enough dip in the curve yet. But sure, the plateau and slight decline is something to monitor.

  5. As someone English who lives here, the government/local councils should be trying to do Welsh speaking clubs/groups where people can go and practise! For me personally learning from an app/computer is really different to speaking it properly, with another person.

I’m trying to learn and know a few basic phrases but I’ve had (some) hostility over mispronunciation (I’ve also had some lovely people correct me and tell me it’s really nice I’m learning). Then there’s also people in my position who don’t want to learn, which is really frustrating.

I’ve found watching Welsh TV helpful, there was also a really good little club at our library for a while where you would read 2 illustrated books – one in English one in Welsh – and it would help you learn words. A bit like “The Magic Key” but for adult language learners.
