Chris Mason to take over from Laura Kuenssberg as BBC political editor | BBC

  1. Have to admit I’m not familiar with him. But from the article he seems a good pick, a career journalist with a lot of experience reporting on these matters and an in demand portfolio.

Anyone who’s followed his career more closely able to weigh in on the accuracy of this?

  2. Not a fan of Chris Mason and reckon he may worse than Kuenssberg in being more subtle when it comes to slanting stories for the benefit of the Conservatives.

  3. Chris Mason seems to have become less incisive and informative the higher he has climbed the BBC News & Current Affairs ladder.

The utter bullshit he lets slide in “Any Answers” is in stark contrast to the stuff he’d fact-check on the R4 “PM” programme on his previous gig.
