  5. Pharmaceutical manufacturing is a diverse system to protect the supply chain from natural disasters, changes in government, and even company bankruptcies.

    Drugs made in the US rely on drug product and API that are made abroad. It’ll drastically raise all drug prices.

  8. The cost of medicines themselves is nothing. I can buy ozempic in Pakistan for $10/mg at retail pharmacy. Here it is $100. Probably costs less than a dollar to manufacture.
    It’s the same as saying a copy of video game or movie is essentially free. It’s almost all profit.

  15. Umm a lot of these pharma companies import drugs from India and sell it under their label at a markup. The markup is usually thousands of times of the initial cost. To add a tariff, the government is eating up into the profits of the big pharma companies, no? Obviously they can increase prices even further, but if they were compelled to not raise prices, the government is getting back a good share.
    This is how I’m thinking. Please correct me if I’m wrong
