According to data from the Croatian National Tourist Board (CNTB), all categories of commercial accommodation recorded growth in overnight stays in the first half of 2025. Hotels accounted for the largest share—9.5 million overnight stays or 32.4% of the total—up 3% compared to last year.

Private household accommodation followed with 8.6 million overnight stays (a 6% increase), making up 29.4% of the total, about a million fewer than hotels.

Campsites came third with 5.6 million overnight stays or 19.1% of the total—a 3% rise—while other hospitality accommodation categories saw 2.4 million overnight stays, a 5.3% increase.

Family farms (OPGs) recorded 54,300 overnight stays, up 6%, while other miscellaneous properties saw a surprising 13,300 overnight stays, a 328.2% increase compared to the previous year. CNTB data does not specify exactly which properties fall into this latter category.

June Sees Double-Digit Growth in Tourist Numbers and Overnight Stays

In June 2025 alone, all accommodation types saw strong growth, with 3.3 million tourists—an 11% increase year-on-year—and 16.3 million overnight stays, up 14% compared to June 2024. Of those, 14.4 million overnight stays were in commercial accommodation, a 14.2% increase.

In non-commercial accommodation, June saw 1.3 million overnight stays, up 11%, while the nautical sector recorded 607,300 overnight stays, an 8% increase.

In a shift from earlier months, private household accommodation overtook hotels in June, recording 5.6 million overnight stays—34.6% of the total and a 14.5% increase over last year.

Hotels came second with 3.8 million overnight stays, up 10%.

Campsites followed closely with 3.7 million overnight stays, up 19%, while the other hospitality category recorded 1.2 million, up 13.1%.

Among commercial providers, family farms (OPGs) posted the highest percentage increase: 28,600 overnight stays, up 29.7%. Restaurants registered 233 overnight stays, a 44% increase, while the miscellaneous category jumped to around 6,100 overnight stays, a staggering 551% increase compared to June 2024.
