    Bekir Aslan, a social media personality known as “Basel” and a Galatasaray University student, was detained yesterday evening on charges of “insulting the President” for a post he made on the X platform. Aslan was taken to the Istanbul Police Department on Vatan Street and, after being questioned by law enforcement, was transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse this morning. Without being questioned by the prosecutor, Aslan was referred to the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for his arrest on the case file and arrested on charges of “insulting the President.”

    During questioning by the judge, Aslan stated that the post was not directed at President Erdoğan, but at Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.

He’s brought to Stalin, who asks “what did you mean by that comrade?” The protester answers “I was talking about Hitler.” Stalin then turns to the officer and asks “What did *you* mean by that comrade?”

    Some details might be different than I remember but I think the gist is clear.

  12. This guy is hypocrite. He was mocking nationalists when Erdoğan was arresting them and had a sexting scandal during the 2023 earthquake. He is not an influencer just an asshole.
