Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson has been fully embraced by King Charles III as well as other senior royals and it has “infuriated” her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, a source tells the Examiner.
Tipsters revealed the Duke of York, 65, has demanded her undivided loyalty and to leave his estranged relatives in second place despite them welcoming Fergie, 65, with open arms.
“She’s widely viewed inside the Firm as a breath of fresh air and exactly what the family needs more of right now, given her bravery, selflessness and overall positivity,” the source claimed.
“Even when she was [at her lowest] Sarah never stopped checking in on others and offering to help out in any way she could,” the sources added, referring to Fergie’s recent health struggles.
The Duchess of York was diagnosed with skin cancer in January 2024, a devastating development just months after she battled breast cancer. Fergie revealed she was in “shock” upon learning that she had malignant melanoma but remained in “good spirits.”
King Charles III, 76, has also been battling an undisclosed type of cancer following his public announcement in February 2024 — one month before Kate Middleton revealed that she too had been diagnosed with cancer. (The Princess of Wales, 43, has since confirmed she is in remission.)
In recent months, says the source, “Queen Camilla has really warmed up to [Fergie] as have the Waleses, who want her front and center at events and have encouraged Charles to make a fuss of her whenever appropriate,” adding, “The elephant in the room, however, is Andrew.”
Fergie and Andrew split in 1992 after six years of marraige, but still have a close bond as they continue to live together at Windsor.

The former couple exchanged their vows in 1986, at which point they received the titles of Duke and Duchess of York. Andrew and Fergie share two children, Princess Beatrice, 36, and Princess Eugenie, 35.
As for what’s causing the drama, the source tells the Examiner that Andrew is “not happy” that Fergie has been given the red carpet treatment while “the family still holds their noses and treats him with barely concealed contempt much of the time.”
According to the source, Andrew told Fergie that “they need to stick together and come as a package deal, which puts poor Sarah in a difficult position.”
Charles’ younger brother notably stepped back from his royal role in 2019 following revelations about his links to Jeffrey Epstein, which Andrew expressed “regret” to the BBC over his association.
In January 2022, the late Queen Elizabeth II stripped her second son of his military titles and patronages after he attempted to have Virginia Giuffre’s sexual assault lawsuit dismissed and denied wrongdoing. The parties ultimately reached a settlement prior to Giuffre’s death in April.
