A BMW driver smashed into the front of a takeaway on the first day it opened in Rochdale on Wednesday evening (July 9).

The car appeared to strike the front of the Miami’s Burgers venue, in Heywood, with a number of police vehicles seen in attendance following the collision.

Yellow and black balloons were seen to have been used to decorate the takeaway as its owners celebrated their first day open for business, having opened at 4pm.

Pictures from the scene showed the grey BMW, which appeared to have mounted the pavement on Bridge Street before hitting the wall outside the takeaway.

A number of police cars were seen in attendance having arrived on blue lights, with officers also pictured at the scene.

Further details surrounding the incident have not yet been confirmed. One witness claimed they saw a woman being arrested at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police and Miami’s Burgers have been approached for a statement.
