Keir Starmer calls on Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak to resign over No 10 partygate fines

  1. Jeez, can’t a man attend a little party after he explained the rules that explicitly forbade it to the nation, lie about it, lie again, and again, then a few more times for good measure, then a couple more times, then issue a half hearted apology without everyone turning it into a witchunt?

  2. Honestly, it seems like the moral thing to do and would probably appease a lot of swing voters, but it worries me about who would step in. There’s some incredibly incompetent MPs in the Cabinet right now IMO, and I’m not sure any of them are the type of person I would want heading the country even in the interim.

I think Labour could swing the voters who wanted “Brexit done” or were having kittens about Corbyn over to them if Johnson and Sunak stay in their roles. Not the ideal way to get votes, but they have to start somewhere.

  3. Gale not only said the Boris should remain due to the situation in Ukraine but also stated that Starmer was irresponsible for suggesting it. Never mind France holding elections during this period.

  4. If I was the queen (which I’m not, I hasten to add) I’d sack the lying shit monkey. I’m not a royalist by any stretch of the imagination, but seeing her sitting alone at Philips funeral, whilst this scandal of a human partied, made me angrier than the time someone ate the last packet of wotsits.

  5. He would have been better saying nothing. He’s just giving Tories cause to rally. If he’d said nothing, they’d have wondered why he wasn’t asking for them to resign and come to the conclusion he thought himself more likely to win against them which would have been fatal.

  6. Boris, has no intention of resigning, he couldn’t give a fuck what Starmer or the public think or want.

He also knows the rest of his party are too fucking weak and weedy to risk dumping him now, especially since with Sunak in the shit as well, they’d have to elect another idiot to lead with either no charisma, less public appeal and the intellect of a gnat.

….. So Boris gets a pass to continue running the shitshow, with them all hoping the public will forget and move on.

They are just in it for themselves.

  7. We won’t know what Boris Johnson’s redeeming quality is until it shows up on a CT scan but we *may* come to be thankful for his tenure in many years to come – he has shown our system up for the rotten mess it is. It’s just a shame he had to permanently shred our reputation and economic clout to do it, and that’s before you get into the 170k who died while he partied.

  8. I don’t like Labour at all but who can possibly disagree with this? Think for a brief moment the elderly who were forced to isolate and died, never seeing their family again. Their funerals locked down, grieving children unable to mourn their loved ones.

Clinically vulnerable people, shielding or often having to choose between the risk of covid or a loss of livelihood. Thousands of normal people losing their jobs because this government failed to take appropriate measures repeatedly at the start of the pandemic and throughout (such as leaving airports open over and over again.)

People being fined left, right and centre. Meanwhile, these pair of absolute reprobates pontificated and ordered us around, while knowingly lying to the public and parliament.

If there is any credibility left in public office – which there isn’t and hasn’t been for years – these hypocritical, lying cretins would have resigned long ago.

  9. Get real, this piece of shit will ride the gravy train until the wheels fall off – he hasn’t got a decent bone in his body let alone the morals or ability to feel shame from this latest series of massive lies.

Even his apology today was half-arsedly reading something (that somebody else has written for him) off a scrap of paper. He doesn’t give a flying fuck, we will have to peel his piggy, grasping trotters off the doorframe of number ten either by force or a GE result.

  10. Johnson would need to feel he has done something wrong first. Johnson believes in his excuse and will defend it until the end, not to mention that he sees being PM as his divine right and he will let no one take that away from him. Johnson will only ever leave on his own terms, he will never let leaders of other parties dictate the terms for him.

  11. Currently, they are the best chance of him getting into power.
He should be careful what he wishes for, even if it is the right thing for them to do.

  12. Every single question in PMQs should be centred around Johnsons resignation until he goes. Starmer isn’t doing enough if he doesn’t start with this line every week.

Yes. Quite literally every single question.

He shouldn’t have been PM through any of 2022 as far as I’m concerned and certainly shouldn’t be PM now. The fact he’s still there is almost cartoonishly ridiculous.

  13. If these parties had been reported when they happened Johnson would have been kicked out almost instantly, pandemic or not. Johnson going now isn’t going to change the UKs policy towards Russia and given that Johnson is making us an international laughing stock it would probably do a great deal of good.

  14. If starmer can’t get any results from this clusterf then he should be resigning. This is like playing a game on beginner mode and missing your opponents who are basically walking into your gunshots

  15. Tory MPs and their voters are spineless, professional goal post movers. They’ll capitulate and compromise most beliefs to keep power. They would be calling Labour MPs treasonous traitors while claiming their deeds evil if they did a fraction of what Boris has.

  16. To be fair Keir calls for people to resign every week. It’s the default response. It’s white noise at this stage.
