Covid mortality in Europe (weekly average, 9th November 2021) when compared with Poland

  1. Low vaccination rates, weaker health system and probably less strict rules against covid. This is sadly totally expected.

  2. When making a graph you need to explain your metrics. What do you define as mortality then and how did you extrapolate the values? Did you divide last 7 days deaths by population?

  3. I looked at the number of deaths for the last 5 years in Kosove, Albania and Macedonia.

The surplus of deaths (per capita) during the pandemic compared to pre-pandemic was quite similar between the three countries.

I also looked at Netherlands, and it also had a similar death rate.

So, some countries are reporting the numbers efficiently, some aren’t. However, the numbers seem to be similar.

  4. Aside from Albania, Turkey and Azerbaijan, isn’t this basically how you split Europe into western and eastern if you don’t include central Europe?

Also, isn’t those who call themselves central Europe only those who otherwise would be called eastern Europe? Don’think Germany, Austria or Italy calls themselves central Europe.
