Hello reddit,
I am considering to import caviar from Iran to Switzerland.
I checked regulation and laws from [admin.ch](https://admin.ch) website as well, but I was still wondering if I can have your opinion about the steps to import the caviar to Switzerland.
I’am currently living in canton Geneva and I wish grow my business here as well.

  1. Iran is on the list of sanctioned countries. Maybe there are exceptions but generally i would avoid doing business with countries on said list.

  2. From experience with knowing about how saffron is imported from Iran, there is a loooot of fees, import tax, mistrust and general hassle. Obviously the easiest way is to smuggle it in but that’s not very business friendly.
    My recommendation, as these kind of specific products, try importing a small quantity and then see how the swiss react. Then they will inform you (invent a rule) how its done. Probably the easiest way to import it would be it being imported to Turkey first and then to Switzerland but I am not so much versed in the law.
