Northern Ireland boss Kenny Shiels claims female football teams concede goals in quick succession because ‘women are more emotional than men’

> We were conscious of that when we went 1-0 down, we killed the game and tried to just slow it right to give them time to get that emotional imbalance out of their head. And that’s an issue that we have – not just Northern Ireland – but all the countries have that problem.

>women are more emotional than men
Really dumb thing to bring up considering how absolutely wrecked men are known to get over a ball being kicked around. My boomer father literally sobs when his team loses.
I’ve started following women’s football in the last couple of years as my daughter shows promise in the sport (played at U15 to U18 level, moving up to seniors fully next season having experienced being part of the senior squad most of htis season), and yes, passions and emotions can run high… but I’ve not seen any evidence of that causing sudden rushes of goals.
I like it, there’s less of the theatrics you see in the men’s game, less rolling around. The ladies play hard and fair.
It’s going to be a chaotic day the day all these shitheads realise anger is an emotion.
First of all this is a hilarious statement to make when many a football fan of men’s teams has seen their sides mentally melt down often
Second, this stereotype is one of the absolute dumbest and hilariously false around. Absolute horse shit that “women are more emotional than men”.
Some men can be some of the absolute whiniest insecure bitches you’ll ever meet, but for some reason we don’t call that “emotional”, meanwhile many women can be far calmer and more rational. There is no gender divide on this, at all
I have seen plenty on mens teams (including my own) capitulate after a goal goes in and before you know it they are 4-5 down.
The high scores you get in women’s games at international level is mostly because of the disparity in investment so you have professional teams playing semi-pro / amateur level teams, you get that in the mens too but its generally just the Principalities like San Marino.
For example England Ladies recently played Macedonia & beat them 10-0 away whereas the last time the men played in 2006 the game ended 0-0.
What a weird comment.
Maybe the Northern Irish women concede goals in quick succession because their manager’s a bit crap. Maybe they seem “emotional” because they’re being coached by a manager whose inability to understand that women are human is holding him back from instilling better discipline in the team who are his responsibility.
Not that we should blame Shiels too much. It might just be his male hormones playing up or something.
It ain’t like he doesn’t [repeatedly say odd stuff](https://www.google.com/search?q=best+controversial+statements+from+kenny+shiels&client=firefox-b-d&biw=1321&bih=780&source=lnt&tbs=cdr%3A1%2Ccd_min%3A3%2F1%2F2002%2Ccd_max%3A3%2F1%2F2022&tbm=)

>”International football’s not what it used to be,” he said. “There’s no pride in it anymore because you could have a pint of Guinness and play for Ireland.
>
>”There are Italians and Scottish people playing for Ireland,” added the former Kilmarnock boss, with an apparent nod to Tony Cascarino.
>
>”International football doesn’t interest me one bit, not one bit,” he continued. “When you look at the people who can go and play. The Republic of Ireland are England reserves and Northern Ireland are England’s reserves’ reserves. It’s diabolical. I’ve no time for it all.
First of all, that’s a pretty stupid thing to say about a sport where grown men regularly wail, burst into tears, start throwing stuff and screaming, and other OTT reactions when the ball goes into the wrong net.
Secondly, the daft thing is that men are just as emotional as women. You get stoic personalities in both genders, but men are just as open about expressing their feelings and moods – it’s just that those reactions aren’t as scrutinised as their female counterparts.
I mean, Ronaldo’s out there smashing phones, but you’re not going to get people calling him hysterical.
Ah Northern Ireland, at least 40 years behind the rest of us.
I assume he meant that they were always distracted having to think up what they were going to cook for dinner that night and when they were going to do the washing up, and pony’s and just generally pink things.
Or the England Ladies are just better than their Northern Ireland counterparts.
On average women experience more *negative* emotions than men, this is widely established following reviews from several studies. He made the point in a way that sounded sexist, but there is infact truth behind the essence of what was said. Source:

Hard to be more emotional than male football players. They are next level drama queens
It’s probably due to poor defensive structures / work rate
