Does anyone have photos from inside?

  1. Paint job over the lot, should be fine.
    God ,wounder who lived there

  2. Was it used as a creche or as some sort of community hub for arts &, crafts?

The only occasions I’ve ever noticed properties with similar madcap exterior paint work like the above – within otherwise residential areas was  when they’d been converted to serve another purpose eg. Community hub, creche, drop-in center etc.

It’s not uncommon though for first time buyers trying to get on the housing ladder to buy fixer uppers. They’re affordable, they can be refurbished over time Vs new build turnkeys ( which are prohibitively expensive for first timers).

Iirc the property above has a very decent back garden too.. a bit of work required but (as much of a cliche as it is) potential for a nice homestead given time, refurbishment and care.

  3. Will have been bought on a 35 year mortgage by some quirky couple in their early 20s and be a massive source of regret for them when they wise up a bit.

  4. I’m sure a landlord will have it painted, on the rental market in 6 weeks. Homes under the hammer special.

  5. Cash buyer. Probably a developer bought it. Will clear the shite and clutter, slap some whitewash on and flip it.

  6. Look back in a year and it will be some generic live laugh love HouseProud monstrosity

  7. It’s mostly a cosmetic disaster. A good builder could have his team strip all that shite out into a skip a day or two, and it probably wouldn’t cost too much to bring it around to a fairly half-decent standard in order to rent it out. I would be surprised if it was bought for over £100k

  8. It looks like a flop house and for decades to come whoever bought and lives in it will have junkies banging on the door in the middle of the night, wanting to be let in to shoot up in their old room.

  9. Would have been a bargain for a developer. Probably bought for <100K

  10. An absolute cunt lives there. I could tell you his name to google him but some milquetoast would tell me I’ve doxed him.

  11. I kinda like this idea cos it’s easy enough to fix with some paint but it might put off landlords from buying it. At least the ones that don’t want to put anything into it.

  12. It was £119,950, I’d be interested to see the inside, too, because it was listed as ‘cash only’, there’s got to be something pretty fundamentally wrong with it, I’d have thought, if a bank wouldn’t lend on it.

I’ve just found the listing on the EA’s website – and, whilst there are no photos of the interior – [what the actual fuck](https://www.propertypal.com/9-ardenvohr-street-woodstock-road-belfast/1015664/gallery)..?! Think I can understand now why it’s cash only.

I don’t usually go around diagnosing people with mental health issues, but I think we can all agree that the previous owner…***probably*** wasn’t all that mentally stable.

[I’ve found it on Street View](https://www.google.com/maps/place/9+Ardenvohr+St,+Belfast+BT6+8NA/@54.5885573,-5.9041977,3a,62.2y,179.46h,88.75t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sss7YF2xUUQQM8Ip8o6gzPA!2e0!5s20140601T000000!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fcb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26pitch%3D1.2548939281597882%26panoid%3Dss7YF2xUUQQM8Ip8o6gzPA%26yaw%3D179.45901443211332!7i13312!8i6656!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x486109056fd1d4b3:0xe276a39e5483f67!2s9+Ardenvohr+St,+Belfast+BT6+8NA!3b1!8m2!3d54.588442!4d-5.9042696!16s%2Fg%2F11t770z5sr!3m5!1s0x486109056fd1d4b3:0xe276a39e5483f67!8m2!3d54.588442!4d-5.9042696!16s%2Fg%2F11t770z5sr?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDcwNy4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D); the most recent image was taken in March 2023, then August 2022, and then nothing between April 2019 and August 2022. Then there’s an almost 5-year gap back to June 2014, when it was just an unassuming 3-bed semi. I’d love to see the intervening 5 years, I feel I want to see a Timelapse of the owner’s descent into schizophrenic madness.

The weird thing is, I’m getting deja vu about this place, I’m 99% certain I’ve seen it before (and, let’s face, you’d not forget a house like that, would you…?).

Yes, I knew I’d seen it before – it used to have a weird face on the second floor.

Found that photo in an Irish News article (I can’t link to it because it’s paywalled). It’s been featured here a few times, too. Apparently the previous owner wasn’t mentally ill, just eccentric.

  13. Come with me to Belfast’s newest and quirkiest Airbnb, just a 20 mins walk from booking cathedral quarter this place gives you access to all the craic you could ever want in our wee country

  14. I kind of like that it’s not just another beige box. But I also feel that the interior walls have been carved out with a spoon.
