Three quarters of Poles want abortion law softened amid protests over pregnant woman’s death

  1. If they are so assured of this majority they should get 100k signatures for countrywide referendum

  2. The fact they are asking to soften, rather than revoke, shades a bad light on the Poles.

Governments have been taken down for less.

  3. >Under the previous status quo – often called the “abortion compromise” in Poland, but which was already one of Europe’s toughest laws – terminations were allowed only if a pregnancy resulted from a crime (such as rape), if it endangered the mother’s life or health, or if birth defects were detected.

An abortion ban with exceptions for rape is for people who see pregnancy as a punishment for choosing to have sex. Not having exceptions for rape is for people who blame the victim for being raped. Either way the aim is for people to suffer, it’s only a question of how much.
