‘Tip of the iceberg’: Destruction of Alpine village leaves others fearing they may be next

On May 28th this year, the Alpine village of Blatten in Switzerland was swept away in a landslide after a chunk of glacier on the mountain above broke off. Now, as climate change pushes up average temperatures and melting permafrost destabilises rock formations, other towns in the region fear they could soon suffer a similar fate.

    Its called GRAVITY.

  5. They may not be next, but they will be one of the ones shortly after. Those villages need to be evacuated. This will continue as all of the snow pack and permafrost melts. None of those villages are safe.

  6. Next to Blatten a new disaster strikes another picturesque hamlet. Whom to blame except us? Why don't we learn from our follies. I am from India. Here too, destruction is going on.
    I pray for you.

  12. I'm sure that the war isn't helping, with all the bombs and explosions. Pollution and chemical warfare. Another reason to encourage ceasefires.

  13. We are being told not to fix this
    Instead of trying to build artificial mountains to make cold come from the upper atmosphere come to the lower atmosphere we're being told to fight each other
    If we make artificial mountains we might be able to stop this

    However, humans building towns at the bottom of these vulnerable places IS !!!
    NATURE hasn't changed.
    But neither has human stupidity and arrogance, apparently ? 🤔🤨
