  1. You want to know how Republicans cheat it’s not by stuffing ballot boxes with dead people, it’s shit like gerrymandering and redrawing maps

  2. This is the strategy dems should use. Take off the gloves.

  3. politicians picking their voters instead of voters picking their politicians.

  4. At one point we were smart enough as a society for this headline to read “Abbott accused of gerrymandering.”

  5. Texas is already one of the most gerrymandered states, but sure, rig it so it’s 100% anti-democracy single party rule.

  6. Just like NC which is Gerrymandered to a 10-4 Republican advantage in a state that is about as close to a 50-50 split as possible.

9 of the worst 10 gerrymandered states (according to [Princeton Gerrymander project](https://gerrymander.princeton.edu)) favor Republicans

    edit:

    >Overall, the Brennan Center for Justice estimated that gerrymandering, primarily in the South and Midwest, gave Republicans a significant advantage, potentially costing Democrats around 16 House seats in 2024 compared to fair maps.

imagine that, GOP controls the House by only 5 seats even with that 16 seat scam.

  7. This is the only reason they currently have a majority. If not for gerrymandering they would never have a majority. They seek to fix the system permanently.

  8. California, New York and Illinois should be looking to do the same. The Dems need to start fighting fire with fire. I know that some states have legislation that prevents this, but the Dems should be working to get rid of that legislation.

  9. Redistricting (as it is currently handled in a lot of states) is a fundamental flaw in the system. The majority of us probably live in states where we don’t choose our representatives, they choose us.

  10. California and New York need to go back to gerrymandering. Maryland as well tbh.

  11. Didn’t California say they’re going to do the same if Texas moves forward with this?

  12. Political boundary maps should not be allowed revision with so little oversight; it’s hard to stay focused and engaged when the system is so blatantly corrupt.

  13. I love how Fox News just runs entire segments like “Demoncrats are Satan-worshipping pedophiles. More at 11.” Then the MSM runs these soft headlines “Republicans have been accused of rigging elections.” You read the article and five paragraphs in, you find out they’ve stacked the election board with partisan hacks that can refuse to certify the election results if they don’t go their way, had their state AG throw out the ballots of all non-white neighborhoods in the state, redrew every district boundary to allow them to rule with 5% of the vote, and removed every voting station from districts that were even 1 point Democrat favored. MSM says, “election tampering accusations fly in Texas.” Useless assholes, the lot of them.

  14. This is textbook GOP behavior. Fawn over American exceptionalism and fake patriotism, but shit all over our democratic processes. Cowards and thieves, all of them.

  15. This is the only way republicans have any fucking chance in the first place. By cheating

  16. Come on this is completely old news. The guy was caught bragging that the state would be Blu if he didn’t do what he was doing. This is the kind of shit that needs to be stopped either through the laws or through violence. I don’t care anymore. Just get it done.

  17. That doesn’t surprise me.. didn’t MTG post recently that she wanted to pass a bill to have a census immediately and then redraw congressional districts.. in fact I believe congress when talking about rougue judges that they wanted to redistrict,,, if they cannot win fairly, which they won’t they will do in their power anything to cheat,, nothing new.

  18. It blows my mind that gerrymandering is even fractionally legal. If anyone tried to start that in my country, that politician would get drop kicked into the sun before they could brush their teeth the next morning.

This is reason number 425 of why I am certain that america is only going to slip further and further down the drain.

  19. My granddad used to have a rule. One person cuts a piece of cake in half. The other person gets to choose which half they want. This means the person cutting will always do their best to cut it fairly.

I think that we should have a law that says that all redistricting in primarily red states is done by blue states, and all blue states have their redistricting done by red states.

I’m guessing this shit would go away real fast.
