Surprised I found anything at all, seeing that I had no idea what I was doing and just enjoyed smashing random rocks with a hammer 😅

  1. Amazing! I’ve been meaning to go here, any advice for choosing a location? And can you just rock up with a hammer or are there rules? Thanks

  2. And all you found were some crappy rocks!

    Jk these are cool

  3. We went looking for them in Whitby and Boggle Hole and found one, after a full morning of looking. A few weeks later we were just wandering down the beach and found one purely by luck.

  4. I’ve never heard of the Yorkshire Jurassic coast. It’s nice you guys get the fossil hunting fun up there as well (I’m from West Dorset).

  5. You did better than me. I went earlier this year and only found one very worn belemnite lol. I was surprised because apparently loads are usually found there.

Not sure if I was just looking in the wrong place, or the wrong time of the year or even the fossils there have kinda dried out because of all the people collecting.

  6. I’ve always wanted to find an ammonite of my own – the satisfaction that you are the first person to see it in millions of years!

  7. I was at Runswick Bay today and saw people chipping away at the cliff face… idiots. Stumbled upon a fossil on the ground by chance as I was walking along though which was nice.

  8. I’d love a few more fossils. Only find very weathered ones where I live.
