Utsira is the smallest *kommune* in Norway, home to around 200 islanders – 14.4% of whom are Ukrainian refugees. I visited Utsira as a Ukrainian- and Norwegian-speaking American to learn how this happened and how everyone is getting along. What I found was a place so loving and welcoming that I want to move there myself. My full writeup is [here](https://substack.com/home/post/p-161402268).

  1. I really like the last photo. It looks so cozy

  2. oh yeah, utsira. Went there once by sailboat. Very lovely place. It would probably be bad if too many people actively went there as tourists, but it’s a great place to be. at least for a bit. i prefer a more developed city environment but i totally get the appeal, and if my 10 year old memory serves me well, then the people there are great

  3. Went to Utsira for the first tije a couple of weekends ago, to watch a rocket launch (student research project). Chill place, nice people. Great potential for tourism, and they want more people to move out there.

  4. Utsira has a few Ukrainians living on it. Saw 2 cars with Ukrainian plates outside the store last time I was there
