Ukraine’s central bank governor Andriy Pyshnyi has urged international investors to not “be afraid to invest” in the war-torn country on the opening day of the annual Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome.

Outlining the need to attract more private capital for reconstruction, which some estimates suggest could cost as much as $1tn, Pyshnyi said: “We are capable of being a reliable partner. Invest into Ukraine. Don’t think about the losses. Look in terms of investment. Stay with us, believe in us. Let’s do it together. Let’s recover.”
