The Croatian National Bank (HNB) will release a new commemorative 2 euro coin on 14 July 2025 to mark the 1100th anniversary of the Croatian Kingdom and the coronation of King Tomislav.

King Tomislav, who was crowned in the year 925, is widely recognised as the first Croatian king. His coronation is considered a significant historical milestone and marks the beginning of the Croatian Kingdom.

The anniversary holds deep historical, cultural and political importance for Croatia.

The coin features a depiction of King Tomislav, echoing the well-known statue that once appeared on the reverse side of the former 1000 kuna banknote.

The design was created by Nikola Vudrag, a university-trained sculptor, and the coin was minted by the Croatian Mint.

A total of 400,000 coins will be issued, of which 382,400 will be available to the public for exchange. The commemorative coin is also legal tender, meaning it can be obtained at face value without an additional fee.

How to Get the Coin

Interested citizens can register to obtain the new coin through the Croatian National Bank’s online booking system between 14 and 31 July 2025, or until the reserved quantities are claimed. Each individual may request up to five coins.
