HERAKLION, Greece — Nebraska freshman Leo Curtis is set to showcase his skills on the international stage as he represents Iceland at the 2025 FIBA U20 EuroBasket. The tournament kicks off this weekend in Heraklion, Greece, running from July 12-20.

Curtis, a towering 7-foot-1 forward from Reykjavik, Iceland, is no stranger to international competition. This marks his third consecutive summer representing Iceland, having previously competed in the 2024 U20 EuroBasket and the 2023 U18 EuroBasket events.

The Icelandic team finds itself in Group D, facing off against formidable opponents Serbia, France and Slovenia. Pool play is scheduled for July 12-14, 2025, with the Round of 16 commencing on July 16, 2025. Pool play is determines their seating based on how many wins the team achieves. Teams will be seeded based on their group performance, progressing through a bracket format until the final showdown on July 20, 2025. Classification games will also determine the rankings of all 16 teams.

Curtis honed his skills in the U.S. last season at CATS (Mass.) Academy, where he averaged an impressive 12.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and 2.1 assists per game. His contributions led the team to a 28-7 record and a runner-up finish in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class AA tournament, earning him first-team All-NEPSAC Class AA honors.
