Women’s EUROs Group B goes to the wire with Portugal needing a miracle

It was the scorer of the first goal, Athenea del Castillo, who set up the second with a mazy run in from the right which the Italians could not deal with, allowing the ball to fall to Guijarro.

GOOOOOAL! SPAIN TURN IT AROUND!

Ana Capeta is put through on goal with a fantastic ball from skipper Carole Costa, but can’t lift the ball over the on-rushing Belgian goalkeeper Lisa Lichtfus.

Italy are ending the half better, which is impressive given how Spain had taken over.

Barbara Bonansea is almost through on goal, but Nanclares sweeps the ball.

Italy’s lead lasted just three minutes as the world champions roar back.

It’s a lovely goal, with Athenea del Castillo playing a one-two with Alexia Putellas before finishing into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Elsewhere in Sion, Portugal will need to win and hope for a six-goal swing in the two games to overtake Italy and make it to the last eight.

They take on a Belgium side who twice pegged back Spain before losing 6-2. The Red Devils will fancy their chances tonight, and will want to sign off their campaign in style.

Spain and Italy meet with top spot on the line, but with only the world champions guaranteed of their place in the quarter-finals.
