I’ve grown up in the south, I studied in the north, worked in the middle and now I’m back south.
I have never met any animosity or prejudice from any of my southern friends or peers about Northern folk.
Yes certain areas are thought of as rough (Glasgow etc) but honestly the local shit holes here are thought of far far worse (Crawley, Croydon, Chatham, etc).
However I have frequently encountered a lot of animosity and borderline prejudice from a very minor subsection of northerners.
No one has every used “northern” as an insult.
But I’ve witness multiple instances of “southerner” used in multiple derogatory ways.
Down here we’re more concerned with the fucking constant road works, new build estates popping up everywhere and house prices than we ever were are and will be about where we were fucking born.
I’m in the south, but I had to abort dinner prep. I’ll try again in a bit.
“Yes, it is. But Wales isn’t up North, Jay.”
Yeah looks proper grim. Awful
Absolute state of that gutter. Wetherby is a proper shambles lad.
‘Tis grim, keep theesen away.
Slaughter Avenue was once lined with butchers, and the blood would run down the gutters.
Looks nice now, though.
Love that OP was doing so well until he turned on Cooplands then all bets were off.

One street in the entire north?
Excellent.
Dreadful dirty old town ..;)
Longest row of shops without a Costa in the country.
Definitely my favourite kind of grim.
Looks like wetherby to me
The streets are empty – the locals have fled in fear of the great yellow orb in the sky.
Bring back the safe comfortable grey skies and drizzle before it’s too late
Maybe in the 1890s
That’s definitely Wetherby West Yorkshire 🙂
Ugh what a shit hole
Holy CRAP that’s my town! How weird seeing it on Reddit.
Btw that framing place is great. 🙂
I think you have to be called molly-mae or some other double barrel name to run a beauty parlour.

I used to live 20 seconds from there – at the bottom on the right is my old favourite pub!

Is that a bloody KLF reference?
