Senate president Abrudean meets Moldovan president of the Senate Grosu
Senate president Mircea Abrudean on Saturday had a meeting with the president of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Grosu, on which occasion they underscored the ‘privileged and strategic’ nature of the bilateral relationship between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, based on historical, cultural ties and common European values, reads a press release of the Romanian Senate.
‘During the meeting, Mircea Abrudean showed that the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova, scheduled for September, represent a key moment for the pro-European destiny of Romanians across the Prut and highlighted the importance of strenghtening democratic institutions and continuing the path of reforms,’ the same document states.
At the same time, the president of the Senate conveyed Romania’s ‘constant support’ for the authorities in Chisinau in their efforts to defend democracy, unity and the strategic objective of joining European Union.
‘Romania remains a close and solidary partner, committed to supporting the Republic of Moldova in all efforts that contribute to the strenghtening of the rule of law, security and prosperity,’ added the Senate President, quoted in the press release.
