Malmö police report Rasmus Paludan for incitement against ethnic groups

  1. So by simply browsing news, I have already seen three different ridiculous reasons Swedish authorities are trying to claim this is to be blamed on:

    * “Foreign interference”
    * “Underfunded police”
    * “A far-right individual inciting ethnic violence”

    Literally *anything* to not admit its own spectacularly failed immigration and integration policy, to not admit some of the immigrants (incl 2nd generation ones) living in Sweden are culturally incompatible with it.

  2. Are there people with Muslim immigrant backgrounds in the police force? Because all the footage I have seen there is an obvious difference between the police and police

  3. First of all, we need to separate religion from ethnicity in our laws, second of all we must make it clear that there is no possibility of religious exemption for religious law to stand above local/national/international one, and anyone who breaks secular law in order to follow religious one should be processed just like any other criminal.

    And yes, i definitely include Christianity in that logic, and any other religion.

  4. Hatred incitation should be punished if not protected by freedom of speech.

    But why remain silent about the elephant in the room ?

  5. Not sure why Sweden makes no distinction about intent for such protests: If you’re burning a Quran somewhere as a protest, your primary goal is to make a statement. If you’re going into specific areas and burning a Quran there, then the intent is to provoke a reaction.

    That in no way means that the rioting and reaction are acceptable, no idea why anyone being somewhat critical of Paludan instantly gets accused of saying so, as if there wouldn’t be nuance. Yet one ought to also keep in mind that Paludan is trying to get such a reaction in order to portray Muslims as intolerant and aggressive. After all, nobody is talking about all those that did not participate in the riots, even though from every news article that gives location & estimate of participants it’s obvious that this is a small minority for the area. It’s all about “Free Speech gud” or “Muslims bad, not part of Sweden!”.

    You can both protect freedom of expression – by giving ample alternative places for such a protest – while at the same time trying to keep the peace between different public groups.

  6. brave sweden, bring down the hammer on *ze bad white* and the problem will fit under the rug for a couple more years!

  7. Glad they focus on the important matters.

    “In connection with an anti-Muslim demonstration […] a person was investigated for incitement to racial hatred after burning a Koran. But the prosecutor then concluded that the act was not criminal.”

    Well perhaps they shouldn’t have investigated that person for incitement to racial hatred, because this is not racial hatred. The swedish police isn’t just a clown fiesta, but the whole circus at this point. You want to see the provocateurs on trial (again), but not the folks wreaking havoc throughout your city.

  8. What is happening in Sweden is almost identical to what happened in the UK

    There were a lot of violent riots/protests over alleged blasphemy. The authorities realise because of the sheer number of outraged people, it is very difficult to handle/control the rioters directly, and it is also too politically costly to do so.

    So instead the supposed ‘inciters’ or ‘blasphemers’ are blamed as there numbers are few, they can be easily demonised as right wing lunatics and it is easier both practically and politically for the authorities to handle it this way

    The end result is that the country becomes less feee and open in terms of allowable speech and discourse

    NB: Read about the Salman Rushdie affair for more details and how many prominent figures in British public life demonised the author of a novel for the alleged offence of ‘incitement’ and ‘provocation’

  9. This is a relatively new thing in Sweden and have with other police reports been dismissed by the courts. The thing is, this time he Swedish police is getting criticism from all sides and need to see how they wont repeat their mistakes. What I can guess from this is that the police dont specifically want Paludan convicted. But that the courts should bring up the case and give some judgement that can be used as guidance for future events. This is basically preventative damage mitigation that looks really bad, but is simply the police’s only choice to get some info on how the law should be interpreted to these cases.

  10. Were Europeans completely ignorant of the fact that people from extreme conservative countries migrate to Europe solely for having more money and financial benefit?

    It’s extremely arrogant to assume that so many people move to your country because they want to adopt your progressive culture and become just like you (Americans do the same, or used to)
