Absolutely fucking based. I hate fuckers that do this and get away with it; I’m glad they’re having their greedy little snouts rubbed in their own shit for once.
How did they think this was going to play out? They were told they couldn’t demolish the listed building for a caravan site, but they did it anyway.
Serves them right. Not only did they have to pay for the demolition, now they have to pay for the rebuild.
Whilst these people clearly didn’t give a fuck, i’d be interested to know how viable the business was or if planning laws basically stopped them making a proper living.
Really, the punishment should be more. The pub has been there since 1793–now gone. Sure it will be rebuilt, but it won’t have the history to it.

Give them a fine too or, better yet, jail sentence
There’s just not enough details in this article to know what the situation is.
So they have to rebuild to the original plan – do they have to rebuild in the materials it was built in and or use traditional techniques?
Unless they’re forced to rebuild it in a specific fashion, it’ll almost certainly look like one of those stone clad new build homes.
If they are forced to, then it’ll probably be prohibitively expensive.
I just kind of assume a bankruptcy (or similar) will happen and nothing will be built.
>In reports by planning officers written before the pub’s demolition, they said the proposed caravan development would be harmful to the setting of the listed inn building, the open countryside and the Forest of Bowland area.
Given the other objections it sounds like it was done out of spite.
The way listed building protection works is so dumb, if building needs to be protected the government should buy it, or at least pay for protection and maintenance. Leaving these buildings in private ownership just means that eventually they will end up in the hands of a broke or unscrupulous owner. Then they get left to collapse due to lack of maintenance or an “accidental” fire destroys it.
They should be fined and all their assets confiscated until it is rebuilt as was.

I don’t think the [Donelan’s care, it’ll just be a small hiccup and annoyance for them.](https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/01591184) I assume they will rebuild with added B&B rooms and still have the caravan site behind.
[The Inn even has it’s own wiki page.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punch_Bowl_Inn)
I bet there is some lovely reclamation material in there. Hope the ghost sticks around.
>The Punch Bowl Inn in Hurst Green, Lancashire, was knocked down in June 2021 after an application for caravan pitches on the site was rejected.
Caravan pitches? Hmm.
