Czech Pavilion Takes Visitors Into the Future at Expo 2025
With over 150 countries participating, Expo 2025 in Osaka is a massive international showcase of technology, creativity, and global cooperation. Czechia is among the countries using the opportunity to not just impress with design—but to show substance and forward-thinking.
“The World Expos are kind of Olympic Games of Business, Academia and Innovations,” said Ondřej Soška, General Commissioner of the Czech Pavilion. “They are a perfect opportunity not only to showcase the results of our work, but also to build new international connections and open doors. Very happy that the Czech Pavillion has been receiving exceptionally positive feedback since day one.”
Autonomous tech for public safety
This week, the Czech Pavilion launched a special showcase: the Week of Autonomous Technologies. The program began with a focus on public safety and emergency response, with a dramatic live demonstration.
“The program began with a presentation of Czechia’s vision to autonomous systems, accompanied by a live demonstration of technologies developed by Information Technology Administration of the City of Plzeň,” Soška explained. “Visitors saw drones and inspection tools used by emergency services, diagnostics for bridges and dams, aerial mapping of the national parks and live interventions by fire and rescue units. The people really loved it.”
The emphasis was not only on the devices themselves, but on how these systems are already in use by Czech institutions—from fire brigades to national park services.
Student-led innovation in the spotlight
The second day shifted focus to the next generation of innovators. A student team from Czech Technical University in Prague—the e-Force Prague Formula—presented their autonomous electric race car CTU24.
“The e-Force Prague Formula team from Czech Technical University presented their amazing autonomous race car called CTU24, which competed in a prestigious international Formula Student competition. I was really impressed,” Soška said. But this wasn’t just a static display: “The visitors got a behind-the-scenes look at the development of the electric Formula car and its autonomous driving system, including live demonstration of remote vehicle control, diagnostics, etc. And we are very happy that the Formula is now being showcased in front of the Czech National Pavilion, and the visitors are able to see this until the end of this week.”
A space to connect and inspire
The Czech Pavilion, named TripAthenaeum, is also drawing visitors in thanks to its design, hospitality, and balance of culture and science. So far, the numbers speak for themselves: “We have welcomed over 500,000 visitors already, and what resonates most with them is the combination of our pavilion’s unique architecture, interactive exhibits, and authentic Czech hospitality,” Soška noted.

“Many visitors comment on how refreshing it is to see a pavilion that combines tradition, innovation, and artistic beauty in such a balanced way. So we are very pleased to see strong interest not only from the general public, but also from business partners, diplomats, and political representatives from all around the world. We really believe that shared participation at Expo 2025 will help companies reach new markets and gain new clients globally.”
With its Week of Autonomous Technologies, Czechia is using the Expo to show that innovation doesn’t just belong to global giants. Even a smaller country can make a big impression—when it has something real to offer. And Expo 2025 is only at its halfway point. If you’re planning a visit to Osaka, don’t miss the Czech Pavilion. There’s still plenty of time to discover what Czechia has to offer—especially if you’re curious about where smart technologies meet real-world impact.
