Eamon Ryan insists ban on sale and distribution of turf will proceed

  1. The Greens, a party who really have no ambition beyond the current government as they are going to get obliterated next election

  2. My problem with Eamon Ryan is simple.
His heart is in the right place and I think everyone acknowledges at this stage that we need to do more to combat climate change. My problem is that these ministers and especially Eamon Ryan are paid and elected to help us achieve these goals but they have no viable solutions to the issue. Less cars when rural public transport is non existent, heat pumps for houses when 99% of them need to be upgraded to be viable candidate for a heat pump (you need an a rated ber at least) walk, cycle on poorly lit roads with a wet climate and short days in winter. Tax every road user the same, even ones who have no alternative but to use a car. Vrt relief of only 5k on electric cars. A national grid that would collapse if everyone drove electric vehicles. They talk a lot in the Green Party but they can’t do anything that will make a difference

  3. Nobody in rural Ireland will ever vote for the Greens again. Their mandate seems to be to destroy rural communities without offering feasible alternatives.

He’ll try ban Bacon & Cabbage next.

  4. So is something cheap going to replace the turf or?

I know loads of people who depend on turf because it’s cheap and can last the whole winter

Do they plan to have a cheap alternative that people can switch to?

  5. “Climate change is real and scary and we need to urgently take action… except if it inconveniences me or costs me money.” – Ireland

  6. If it is allowed to cut turf, then there is simply no way you can prevent it being sold. End of. This is performative legislation from a party that has no clue how rural Ireland actually functions. Let them ban it, it will make no difference.
