  1. I will argue for New Energy solutions 99% of the time. And I am particularly concerned with the effects of particulates. But I also consider that I have a finite amount of political capital and the argument that the United States Long-Haul Trucking business has a New Energy solution is really weak. Given the present day charging infrastructure, cost of trucks, etc. it’s going to be a big ask, especially for independents.

Previously, I had done the basic math, like, you can only drive so far without a break, plenty of range for that. But getting a better understanding of how long-haul works in the real world, there needs to be a lot more fast charging stations to accommodate needs. And then you consider the entry costs to get in the independent business, and the lower price for diesel blows electric out of the water.

To clarify, I’m talking about long-haul in the US. Shorter routes, smaller countries, corporate depot support, drayage, etc. make electric trucks a no-brainer.

  2. I wonder who decided that not making the front aerodynamic was better.
