I was importing e-juice from Sweden until recently, when Toll decided out of the blue to start asking me for a doctor's note (a note specifically saying that I'm importing it for personal use, for smoking cessation).
My doctor was unwilling to give me such a note because as she put it "what can I say about whether you are using it personally?". And to be honest I understand, because it's a ridiculous requirement.
Of course, without the ability to legally vape, I could always smoke, as it's very easy to walk to the local shop and buy a box of cigarettes. No one's going to ask me for a doctor's note.
This is quite contradictory and the rationale is hard to understand. There seems to be some inability to see the bigger picture.
It's not possible to vape because it's dangerous, but I can buy cigs from the local shop. Great job guys, great job.
I held out hope though – various sources reported an imminent law change which would allow for sale of e-juice provided it was only in tobacco flavours (some said 1 Jul 2025, others said 'sometime in 2025').
(It's difficult to get a clear picture since there are several places you can look for information and they all say slightly different things, but in general things looked to be moving in the right direction.)
And then yesterday, this happened:
Which is obviously pretty disappointing.
I find this kind of nanny-state behaviour draconian and unnecessary.
