Working from cafes/restaurants this summer but melting in the heat. Started tracking places with proper AC across London. Here's what I have so far:

Here is the form to add more:

Looking for places that actually keep you cool – restaurants, pubs, cafes, libraries, co-working spaces, anywhere that's not a supermarket. Already found some gems in East London but need help with the rest of the city.

What I'm tracking:

  • Place name & exact location
  • Air con quality (1-5 scale)
  • WiFi/power situation
  • Any useful notes

Current standouts:

  • Canary Wharf hotels (Hilton, Marriott) – lobby areas welcome
  • Idea Stores in Whitechapel & Canary Wharf – free AC + study space
  • WeWork day passes in Shoreditch
  • Westfield Stratford – obvious but reliable

Please add anything you know works! Looking for verified spots where you've actually stayed cool, not just places that claim to have AC.

Just click any empty row in the sheet and fill in what you know. If you're unsure about AC quality, even noting "has AC" helps!

Trying to make this the definitive summer survival guide for London. 🙏

  1. Awesome idea. Having it editable by anyone surely leaves it open to abuse though. Can you not create a Google Form and once formatting or anything else has been verified you can add it to the master sheet?

  2. Great idea. This being London I would add Place type: pub!

  3. Also Earl”s Court Sainsburys is like Siberia, if anyone has some shopping to do check it out 🥶

  4. The British Library reading rooms. You can get a free pass for them in person, and even outside in the main area is fairly cool!
