  3. Tbf, tons of people hated the prequels lol. They only started getting more general appreciation in recent years.

    I was still young (8ish years old) when Episode 1 came out and I loved it lol. People seem to forget that these movies were intended for a younger audience. Jar jar binks is hilarious when you’re 8 xD

  9. Tbh, all of us from that era were haters on the prequels. Lucas took a wide open, mythological feast, and stuffed it into a weird sock that no one really liked. I remember seeing Ep1 on mushrooms, on opening day, and wanting to cry it was so bad; don’t get me wrong, parts were great, but leaving the thearer was the best part. Watching what Lucas did to my childhood fantasy was an abomination. I think what I, and many like me thought was, WE could have done much better.

  18. The prequels certainly has their issues, but at least they told a coherent story throughout. The mess that RJ created in TLJ by undoing the threads set up in TFA just for the fuck of it will forever be studied.

  22. I really loved/liked 3 movies out of 9. People can claim nostalgia… but I legitimately defend the originals because they are a product of the 70s and 80s. They have legitimate excuses for the way they are. They were also beloved by ***all ages*** at the time.

    Something that can not be said of any other trilogy in Star Wars released after.

    Rian is… human. He made choices that sometimes worked and other times absolutely did not. He makes entertaining movies. I like his detective stuff even if they’re simple fun. Looper was cool… plot holes and all. Half of the Last Jedi is an absolute waste of run time.

    Some of his attitude during the creation and after the release of his movie annoyed me. The air of “I know best…” or the shirt saying “You’re Snoke Theory sucks” when… damn near every fan theory was infinitely better… and to date Plagueis was and still is the most obvious and best choice for that trilogy. They flat out made a mistake. Well many of them.

    I’d prefer he didn’t return to Star Wars as his view of it and mine are just too different.

  30. Life imitates art, I guess. Rian hated the prequels and then made arguably the most hated entry in the sequels.

  34. Yeah we can tell, he wanted to do his own thing so much that he basically annihilated everything that came before and said ‘no’ instead of ‘yes and’, made a joke out of every emotional setup and then make Luke into a near murderer who then dies.
