Labour Senator Rebecca Moynihan appears to suggest that those who have spoken out against trans participation in women’s sport are partially to blame for the murder of two gay men in Sligo

  1. You have to be a very shitty, opportunistic person to use two murders to push your own unrelated agenda.

And remember, male violence is women’s fault

  2. another labour attention seeking moron jumping on a bandwagon to appease the twatter crowd

Why do these gowls come out when incidents like this happen

  3. There’s always the 2 batshit approaches when something like this happens.

    1. GODAMMIT LOOK AT HIM YOU LEFTY BASTARDS. HE’S BROOOOOOOOOOOWN

    and

    2. It’s misogyny/transphobia/homphobia/racism/ableism etc. And it’s rife within Ireland

    🤣

The method suggests that Wahabi Islam probably has a part to play in the motive. Say more and you’re saying too much too early.

  4. Definitely weird to link it specifically to the sport issue, but the shit that’s being slung by various media types in Ireland and abroad against trans people lately is 100% identical to the shit they used to sling against gay people, right down to the phrasing (“grooming”, etc.)

You’d be daft to imagine the anti-trans shit (again, in general, not specifically talking about sport) isn’t just the tip of the spear for these people looking to stir up hatred against gay, lesbian and bisexual people too, and it’s definitely given rise to an increase in the number of physical assaults on LGBT people.

  5. I don’t know, but the hate against trans and gay people wouldn’t help the situation.

I’d suggest you listen to some Irish anti trans and gay people and see just how much hate is being directed at that community, actually don’t listen its not good for your soul. I can’t understand why people hate others because of their sexualty.

  6. It’s nothing short of moronic. People with a science based viewpoint v hatred and psychological issues. She’s just looking for column inches and she’ll get it but for all the wrong reasons

  7. I think this is a completely fair take, there is no way the sheer volume of transphobia in the media hasn’t contributed to what’s been happening across the country. Let’s not forget what the T in LGBTQ+ stands for

  8. I don’t think she’s completely wrong on the idea, but yeah I don’t think she has as direct a line of causality as she thinks.

  9. People really do commit political suicide to every normal person around just to please a bunch of college students online, bizarre behaviour.

  10. Not “appears”. And she is correct. Anyone with half an ounce of intelligence knows there are no trans athletes taking over sports, and that it has always been a fake “issue” created to give idiots who are anti-gay rights a cloak of fake legitimacy. It obviously is done specifically to also encourage killing off trans folks; trans kids in particular. Far more trans kids will kill themselves or be killed for being trans than will participate in an organized sport.

How nutjob pathetic is it? Well when the far right wing Governor in a far right wing State in the US was presented with a proposed law banning trans athletes from participating in school sports – he vetoed it saying it was stupid. He went on to say the State had about 75,000 school athletes and 1 kid out of that 75,000 was MtF trans and played a sport.

So – in light of this anti-trans, right wing devil worshipping drumbeat, it is not at all a surprise when stupid people act maliciously consistent with the lies they are being told, and harm trans folks.

  11. She probably has a point

Ever since the topic was brought up in this sub there has been an awful lot more posts and people in comments randomly offering up their “concerns” regarding the Trans movement than before. A lot of it borderline misinformation.

I expect there’s a classic bit of Reddit astroturfing going on.

Worth pointing out for anyone who is trying to drum up outrage over this woman’s post but there has been a massive increase in anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-trans rhetoric in the media and in discourse lately both from the US and the support for the “Don’t say Gay” bill where politicians are referring to homosexuals as “Groomers” and in the UK where the UK government has decided not to ban conversion therapy of Trans people and J K Rowling being herself. The LGBTQ+ community always points out that an increase in negative discourse always leads to increase violence in their experience
