1. Short term profits > long term gains for these companies. They had so much time to invest in renewable energy themselves to continue to be energy behemoths but they’d rather spend millions lobbying against change.

2. Actually China is making 13X the steel American makes. 50% of China’s electricity comes from coal. We can’t compete with our energy grid. China dumped cheap solar on us and helped push the green agenda to give them that advantage. No way can we make steel using renewables in the near future. That’s 13X more steel to make warships, jets, artillery, drones, bombs, and bullets. To save the planet the world needs to force China to stop using coal.
