The body of 36-year-old Jan Pace was found in Pieta on Sunday afternoon.
Police said the discovery was made inside a residence on Marina Street.
Pace, a hairdresser from Pieta, had last been seen on Wednesday.
On Saturday, mental health organisation Crisis Resolution Malta had raised the alarm, saying Jan may have been experiencing a serious and potentially life-threatening crisis.
An inquiry is being led by Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia.
