Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Gordan Grlić Radman, has responded to U.S. President, Donald Trump’s announcement of potential new tariffs on EU products, calling for calm and constructive dialogue.

Speaking on national television (HRT), Grlić Radman emphasized the importance of U.S.-EU trade relations, stating: “The U.S. is the European Union’s most important trading partner, and I believe a solution will be found that satisfies both sides.”

Trump recently announced the possibility of 30% tariffs on certain EU goods from August 1, triggering widespread reactions across Europe. In response, the EU has scheduled a special Foreign Affairs Council in trade format for July 14.

While addressing other topics, including the successful 18th edition of the Dubrovnik Forum, Grlić Radman reiterated that maintaining strong transatlantic ties remains a Croatian priority.

Croatian officials remain hopeful that trade tensions with the U.S. can be resolved through negotiation rather than escalation.
