Houthis sink Liberian cargo ship in Red Sea attack, several crew dead • FRANCE 24 English

It’s the first deadly Houthy attack on the Red Sea in over a year. The Eternity Sea was first attacked on Monday night with sea drones and rocket propelled grenades fired from speedboats by Yemen-based Houthi rebels. The Greek operated ship carrying 25 crew was attacked again on Wednesday, forcing them to abandon ship. By Wednesday morning, the cargo ship was completely sunk, seen here in footage released by the Houthies. A European naval mission says six crew members have been rescued and three killed. The US embassy in Yemen denounced the attack and claimed the rebel group had kidnapped surviving crew members. After the operation, a special unit from the naval forces moved to rescue several members of the ship’s crew, providing them with medical care and transferring them to a safe location. This is the second ship sunk by the Houthies in the last week. Over the weekend, they attacked the bulk carrier Magic Seas and forced 22 crew off the ship before blowing it up. All of which has got attention at the UN. We are now with grave concern seeing an escalation in the Red Sea with attacks on two commercial ships earlier this week by Anala resulting in civilian loss of life and casualties as well as the potential for environmental damage. Between November 2023 and December 2024, the Iranianbacked Houthies have targeted over 100 ships in the Red Sea. They claim to be supporting Palestinians as Israel wages war in Gaza. The militant group stopped their attacks after weeks long intense US air strikes over the spring, but vowed to resume attacks after the US strikes on Iran last month.

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have once again targeted maritime traffic in the Red Sea, sinking the Liberian-flagged cargo vessel Eternity C. The attack resulted in at least three crew fatalities, with only six out of the 25 crew members rescued so far. The Houthis have been carrying out assaults on shipping in the Red Sea, framing their campaign as support for the Palestinians amid the ongoing Israeli-Hamas conflict.

  1. Who CKilled Cernadotte of Wisborg.

Bernadotte was assassinated in Jerusalem on September 17, 1948, by the Zionist extremist group Lehi (also known as the Stern Gang), who opposed his peace proposals

  2. This reporting is inaccurate the Houthis stopped during the ceasefire in Gaza, and resumed when Israel broke the ceasefire. The US stopped attacking after several reconnaissance drones and fighter jets were lost and an agreement was reached between the two parties. Israel was not included in the agreement. The integrity of the author of this report should be questioned. I’m not a journalist and if you look at all the information available this reporting is a lie.

  3. Yemen unilateral sanction on Israel, even US giving it a wide berth……Yemen shot down so many US drones and F-18s and giving their aircraft carriers a hole in the deck. Trump has call a ceasefire with Ansarallah

  4. Hilarious, funny all NATO, Europe, cant stop Houthis. Has no Clue where the sleep, stage, come from. Satilites read license plates
