The authorities really have no one to blame but themselves. The practical driving exam has objectively become much harder over the past 15 years than it was when many people’s parents learned to drive in the 1970s/1980s/1990s. Many countries have things like minimum mandatory teaching hours, mandatory classes, mandatory refresher classes etc. For young people whose income is already being squeezed, those extra obligations compounded with the higher failure rate of the practical driving exam can be too much.
So if I have a driving license from another EU country, I could get a Swedish one? Is it limited to only Swedish citizens?
I’ve heard that in Romania if you pay a lot of money, you can actually just get driving license without any driving lessons 😅
Wouldn’t be bad to standardize traffic signs and rules internationally. Not sure to what degree it’s the same for Romania and Sweden. At least they switched to driving in the right side of the road 😉
I just got my Swedish driving license some months ago and I can agree that:
– It’s super hard to obtain, teachers are strict and even the driving schools are also strict when it comes to how to drive. It’s not even regarding traffic rules, but also on how you use the car, if you drive eco, or even in things like not using a turn signal even if the street is completely empty and you know nobody is actually going to see that
– It’s SUPER EXPENSIVE. I spent around 20k kronor, which is almost 2k EUR. This including lessons of course but it’s a number that I can completely see a lot of people not being able to afford
On the other (and good) side:
– Traffic accidents are super rare
– Traffic fatalities I think are between the lowest in the world
So maybe it’s worth it?
Lol hating immigrants but too stupid to drive in your own country
You can get a Master’s degree online, why not a simple driver’s license?
