  1. Embarrassed that the UK is only at 75. Oh and Bulgaria & Romania, sort it out.

  2. Poland permanently – 50/50 on everything 🫠

Edit: I’m from Poland and not laughing at all…

  3. 25 and 17 in Romania and Bulgaria. Not even close to the 21st century..

  4. I made this map because I’ve made similar ones about the US, and I thought it would be interesting to make one for Europe as well. However, I was only able to find data for the EU and the UK, not all of Europe, which is why the map only includes those regions.

  5. I think 94% of Swedes just do not really care what grown human being are doing with each other, so why not marry each other? Just no one really give a f, lol :p

  6. Literally just a couple of days ago there was news of a survey in Denmark that showed 22% of the population have homophobic opinions, so I find this 93% approval of gay marriage very hard to believe.

    Edit: here’s the survey – https://www.ssi.dk/aktuelt/nyheder/2025/ny-undersoegelse-mere-end-hver-femte-dansker-har-homofobiske-holdninger

    >more than every fifth Dane between 15 and 89 years think that sex between two people of the same sex is morally unacceptable, according to a new study based on data from Projekt SEXUS – the world’s biggest study of its kind.

  7. Czechia is a bit lower than I would’ve expected given how low its religiosity is.

  8. The pattern of the former soviet territories and it’s former satellites is uncanny

  9. Interesting that support seems to be higher in the UK than, to pick one example, France.

Given that France is arguably both more ‘Christian’ than the UK, and has a higher proportion of Muslims (which, I’m sure, is a factor in these figures).

Also that Ireland is more supportive than the UK.

It’s surprising enough that my hunch (without looking at anything more than the graphic) is that these percentages aren’t really all that accurate.

  10. I thought the Baltics were quite progressive for some reason, but apparently, they aren’t.

  11. The more dicks together the more pussy for me, hell yeah

  12. Usually I only hold opinions which affect me, and this doesn’t. Except that I like to see people enjoying themselves and being free, smiling and laughing, getting on with their lives. Peace.

  13. Swedes and Danes know to mind their own business AND be egalitarian.

  14. Greece recently legalised same-sex marriage and hopefully it will grant adoption rights, too. The younger generations are far more open-minded and better educated. We’ll get there.

    Edit:typo

  15. *sighs in austrian*

so many old, catholic, conservative boomers still.

  16. Ireland being higher than the UK now, who’d have believed that 30 years ago.

  17. Italy, seriously, what are you waiting for? Are you afraid of success or what?

  18. Surprised it isn’t higher in the baltic states. Particularly Estonia and Latvia.

  19. No surprise for the NL, that’s how society felt to me while I was living there. On moving to Germany, I had the idea that it would be more around 60-70% max. Pleasantly surprised 😊 but still some room for improvement.

  20. Amazing gap between neighbouring countries, Greece and Bulgaria.

  21. Good job Cyprus, richer than eastern Europe and Balkans yet filled with the same amount of hatred.

  22. I don’t get why people care… I mean what’s it to you? Mind your own damn business.

  23. Here in Latvia people are generally indifferent if someone is gay. When the Riga pride march happened recently barley any came to protest against it. Also one of our most well known and famous politicians, Edgars Rinkēvičs, is openly gay. No one cared about his sexuality throughout the years when he was our foreign minister and now president.

  24. Now this is why Estonia cannot into Nordic.

There’s other reasons too, but damn, a majority being homphobes is very fucked up.

  25. I’m glad to live in the Netherlands. Honestly the Netherlands still has a bunch of bigots, but I do feel comfortable to hold hands with my partner here in public. And if anyone cares to question the way we live, I will give them an earful.

Shame about the UK though. I expected better from them.

  26. I’m surprised France doesn’t lead here and Germany is before it. Also Czechia is the least religious country in Europe, so the only reason for most people there to be against it seems to be ✨tradition✨

  27. Nordics and Netherlands good.

Edit: but wtf is wrong with the Baltic states?

  28. As some comedian put it: Being against gay rights is like protesting Donuts because you’re on a Diet.
