French-German teenage cyclist, Lennart Monterlos, detained in Iran • FRANCE 24 English
For more than 3 weeks, French traveler Lina Montelus was missing in Iran. But on Thursday, his whereabouts became clear. In an interview with Leond, Iran’s foreign minister announced that the 18year-old is now in the hands of Iranian authorities. He was arrested for committing a crime and an official notification regarding his situation was sent to the French embassy. French diplomats fears are now confirmed. The French foreign ministry says it’s in ongoing negotiations with Thran. The embassy is on top of this matter on the ground and is mobilized. As for his parents, they’re in continuous constant contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Crisis and Support Center. In recent days, the disappearance of the young cyclist had sparked alarm with his family sharing a desperate missing person alert on social media. Those who had been traveling with him are struggling to understand what’s happened. I’m really saddened by this news. It’s an incredibly worrying, heartbreaking situation for Lenat’s family. Lat hadn’t been heard from since the 16th of June. His last known location was near Vazane, a city in central Iran. Just a day before, he shared this video on social media. Originally from the French city of Bzanson, the cyclist was on a 20,000 km journey by bike from France to Asia, a trip that took him through Iran, a country he had fallen in love with and where he had been staying for several weeks before his arrest. Lak is now the third French citizen held by Iranian authorities. Cece Ker and Jac Par have been imprisoned there for over 3 years. Paris considers them to be political hostages.
French-German cyclist, Lennart Monterlos, has been arrested in the Iran “for committing an offence”, foreign minister Abbas Araghchi told a French newspaper on Thursday. The 18-year-old had been missing in Iran since mid-June.

Spying for Israel.
There are evil places you just don't visit.Common sense.
Sayanim?
Many people say that this man is a known Foreign Intelligence SPY pretending to be a "tourist" 💯💯💯
Risky move for anyone to visit such a ruthless and dangerous place, doubly so if you are French ATM. Hooe sense prevails and the regime releases him.
… BRAVO IRAN …
Too many Europeans think the rest of the world is like the Schengen area.
Ok, at least he's still alive.
Who, what Westerner is crazy enough to travel to Iran? This is begging for trouble. Iran is our enemy. Their prisons are hellish.
He was arrested on charges of espionage. Iran receives an average of 10 to 15 million foreign tourists annually and they have no problems here but in this case it is highly likely that he was spying otherwise no one would be arrested without reason
still sounds less dangerous than USA
