Is this good or bad? because I think they’re quite cute but I don’t know what affect that would have on anything
We just need insect numbers in general to be higher.
They’re called ladybugs for historically good reasons, being linked to the Virgin Mary. They’re really good at hunting pests that destroy plants.
Same as wasps, those fuckers are out in force at the moment.
I haven’t seen one all year, after reading this I’m sure I’ll see one soon lol
Could it also be because of the ban on neonicotinoids 🤔
A loveliness of ladybirds stopped play in the cricket the other day which seemed like a first.
I have loads in my garden, this weekend we noticed. It’s like they all hatched very recently.
Plus I have loads of honey bees on my lavender. LOADS. A Deliveroo rider told me I had a “swarm” lol
Have scarcely seen one since I was a child 30 years ago and recently at a music festival in Scotland they were everywhere, on every surface and in our bags, van, floating around the performances.
and also due to the absolute aphid armageddon we experienced this year.
They are absolutely everywhere in my garden. Genuinely must have a thousand. They have been a nuisance getting in drinks, always landing on my skin.
Our garden feels like a damn ladybird zoo at the moment, but they’re eating all the aphids soooo… crack on little guys
It was insane i was at the beach and i became swarmed by them! I couldnt believe it ive never seen anything like it.
Those and those tiny tiny black flying bugs that just stuck to my skin, thousands. It was so crazy
I saw at least 8 in the plant pots at spoons last night, which is highly unusual because those plants are fake
I’ve had a bees nest in my bedroom wall all summer buzzing away at night to cool themselves down. Then on the hottest day of the year these tiny tree aphids blew into my bedroom from next doors overgrown tree which an owl has been twit twooing out of all night and the aphids basically infested my room and I had to spend ages hoovering the ceilings and walls to get rid of them. Now I’m seeing a ridiculous amount of ladybirds which my teens say they were brutally attacked by on their walk today.
And my cat does nothing! Nothing to help by trying to jump out the window at 2am to play with foxes.
Had enough!
I rescued a ladybird from my house . I also spend twenty mins watching a ladybird on the wall other day while waiting for bus. I think they are great. My mum remember a time in her childhood when mass population of ladybirds I think may been scary does anyone remember this. I glad ladybird got safety out of my home because there big spider in one of my cupboards. I think going have find name for him or her.
