Norway's Medical Evacuation of Ukrainian Patients Using Military Aircraft

As reported by the press service of the Norwegian Ministry of Defense

Summer transportation of patients from Ukraine to Norway became a significant event, as the country carried out the evacuation of two burn victims requiring mechanical ventilation support (MV) for the first time. This operation was conducted using a military C-130J Hercules aircraft.

This initiative was announced by the Norwegian Ministry of Defence’s press service via the social network X.

“By transporting patients and their families to hospitals across Europe, Norway helps reduce the burden on Ukraine’s healthcare system, providing more people with access to life-saving treatment.”

The Norwegian Ministry of Defence emphasized that their strategic aviation medical service regularly evacuates Ukrainian patients. So far, they have transported over 3,500 patients and their relatives.

Two types of aircraft are used for these missions: the Royal Norwegian Air Force’s C-130J Hercules and the Boeing 737-700. Both planes are equipped with stretchers, seats, monitors for patient condition monitoring, infusion pumps, and ventilators, ensuring a high level of medical care during transport.
