  1. Oh, an opinion on food by Barry and Bjorn. How illuminating

  2. Blue = savages? I mean boiling something alive _is_ savage…

  3. It’s illegal in Austria unless you anaesthetise them – similar to Switzerland (and I think the UK as well), but we had that rule before both countries.

  4. Rare Barry/Bjorn/Ueli W

    Should be illegal here too

  5. > Can you cook a lobster?

    > NL: Yes

Most people can’t even cook vegetables properly, but they claim they can cook lobster? Sure bro…

  6. Well ofc, Barry feels a camadery with the humble lobster.

He can see himself in the creature.

  7. Putting a lobster through too much heat is pretty much what happens when Barries sunbathe in Benidorm, and they don’t seem to be suffering.

Maybe it’s because they don’t have a well developed central nervous system. The Barries, I mean, the lobsters probably do.

  8. Bjørn when he wees a lobster: 😙
Bjørn when he sees a baby seal: ⛏️

  9. lobsters have the same mental awareness and consciousness as an insect apparently, fuck them shits

  10. I’m with Barry and Bjorn on this one. Its such a small thing to just put the damn thing out of its misery rather than having them boil alive in their own shell. All because we don’t have the 10 seconds to spare or because we don’t like giving them the final blow and if the water does it for us it’s technically not us doing the killing. Just put the knife through its head. I know this isn’t really enforceable especially for home cooking but for fucks sake. I am not against eating meat but I am against unnecessary suffering of any living creature. We already suffer enough from our food so now we have to make our food suffer the same fate?

  11. The reason why its illegal in the uk is just because a cooked lobster isnt brown. If it isnt brown it isnt legal.

  12. Fake news. Switzerland, Norway, and Austria prohibit boiling lobsters alive without stunning. Barry has considered similar legislation but hasn’t implemented it.

  13. it’s “legal” in the sense no one has ever even seen a lobster let alone cooked one

  14. God damn we have to fix this. I get so disgusted by people actually caring about sea life. Like why did my politicians do this, i think im gonna throw up

  15. Not only is it legal in Germany to throw a lobster in a roaring boiling pot of water, but it is the only legal way to kill crustaceans as it is the quickest, 100% effective method. A knife through the head is harder to pull off perfectly and is no guarantee for an immediate death because of the decentralized nervous system.

  16. I’ve thought about this. What is it about lobsters specifically that makes people get upset when they’re cooked alive? It’s as if Gordon Ramsay changed people’s opinions on lobsters 30 years ago, but we still treat other sea creatures terribly.

Crayfish/kräftor? People aren’t killing them nicely 1 at a time, just dumping them in the pot, and they’re basically just small lobsters. People do try to treat fish properly, but 99.99% of our fish suffocate and take hours to die on big trawlers. Imagine if fish could scream like land animals do, how differently we’d treat them.

Why did we chose lobsters though, to treat above all else? Is it because its fancy people food? What makes them more deserving of decency compared to all the rest?

  17. It’s actually insane that torturing an animal to death is legal and normalized in so many countries

  18. Can you commit a mass murder? Yes, but it’s illegal.

  19. Of course this was posted by a brit with delusions of civilisation

  20. In switzerland a lobster has more rights than average Swiss

  21. I did it once. They weren’t lobsters tho but like tiny river lobsters I don’t know what’s the stupid English word for them. Also they were invasive and Am*rican so they deserved it.

  22. I don’t need the government to tell me how to cook a lobster, I follow grandma’s “fix all problems” method of splitting its head with a knife.

  23. Aren’t they technically worms but just bigger?

Btw, I always do the 1) freeze up a bit; 2) take out, grab a big ass knife and pull it into the top of the head with one large big cut already putting the whole body in two halves.

  24. Civilised🗣️💯‼️🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴

  25. So Norway and the UK, both reowned countries for their respective national cuisines?

The Swiss I don’t count cos they’re just dicks, they’ll go against any European-wide tradition, including boiling alive THINGS without brains.

  26. I used to be a chef and did the apprentice and all of that. In school they told us that cooking the lobster is more „human“ then giving it the „kreuzschnitt“, which means killing it in the neck, which is illegal in Austria. In general but also with lobsters. So boiling as they told us kills them instantly, which I doubt but that‘s what they told me.

  27. Ahh looks like the UK is more progressive than the EU 😌

  28. The red countries are red because they cannot cook, period.
