Like many I’m following the French elections and debates and there are a few points of warning that I can give from my own country experience.

I heard Le Pen say that she is not dependent on Moscow. I can assure you this is false.

This is an estonian investigation of Le Pen italian ally Salvini from leaked email of a Russian oligarch. It details the inner working of the populist alliance in Europe.

Those people don’t just get money, they send their laws and receive amendements. Voting for Le Pen would bring Putin’s pen in your legislative system.

They are traitors to our values selling our countries to Moscow.

  4. I really don’t understand the point of these posts.

    I see people from other countries trying to educate us on the risks of the far right, as if we just recently discovered their existence in France.

    Since you’re Italian it is at least legitimate, but seeing American people bringing their morals to Europe is highly frustrating to me.

    On top of that most of the population of this sub is privileged/left-leaning voters.

    Is there something that other countries know about the situation in France that we don’t?

    It all seems very condescending to me, even if it is initially well intentioned.

  5. Thank you for your concern, we French people appreciate that foreign countries tell us what to do and what to think about our own country. Don’t hesitate to do this more often, I’m sure this is efficient and will make a looot of people vote for your opinion.

  6. I’d complain, like many others, that we already know about this, but I don’t think there’s ever enough warnings about the dangers of far right and populism.

  11. I don’t give a damn about her involvement with Russia.

    On the other hand, her being totally incompetent and planning to enact conservative reforms while claiming to defend the people bothers me.

    I think Salvini has the same profile : constantly whining about immigrants while following quite the same policies as Draghi & co.

  12. As if under macrons presidency France wasn’t selling weapons to Russia until 2020. Putin’s agent is now the McCarthyism of the 21st century. People are dumb because they don’t understand the exact pro Putin arguments would have been used for melenchon as well had he been in the second round.

  13. Yes, everybody knows that Le Pen is linked to Russia. She borrowed few millions from a Russian bank for her presidential campaign and this is common knowledge. This does not seem to impress her voters though.
