Some people get quite upset about graffiti.. ‘Vandalism ‘.
But it actually gives us some rare moments in history, from ancient graffiti carved into structures older than we can remember with records.
2 of my favourites. In an ancient burial chamber in Scotland, a person had scratched. ‘Sebga likes it in the ass!’ Which unbelievably let us understand the ancient language better, and helped understand other engravings.
The other, my favourite. Someone had etched something inside a cave on the roof. After months of archaeological work, the inscription was translated as… You had to climb hard to read this… that person dropped the Mic two thousand plus years ago, on a joke they’d never hear the laugh too.
Im still impressed 😎.

It makes me so angry omg 😡😡 these ignorant arseholes! Even with greyfriars Bobby’s statue, the thing is damaged because people are touching it on superstitions. I like superstitions like the rest of them but the statue is looking awful now, it’s a real shame
The obvious solution to this sort of graffiti is to scratch, “writing on walls is stupid” next to it. I’ll scratch that in next time I visit.
