Nierengarten has spent years promoting climate action, energy efficiency, waste management, and renewable energy.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville’s environmental director has been tapped to chair the state’s advanced energy foundation, according to a July 14 statement by Arkansas officials.

Peter Nierengarten was elected the new chairman of the Arkansas Advanced Energy Foundation (AAEF) during the organization’s quarterly meeting on Thursday, July 10.

“As an Arkansas Advanced Energy Association member for over ten years, it’s very exciting to be elected as the Foundation Board Chair,” Nierengarten said. “I hope to continue growing the Foundation’s role in advancing cost-effective clean energy solutions and advanced energy job creation for Arkansas!”

Nierengarten, who has worked as the City of Fayetteville’s environmental director since 2012, is reportedly focusing on promoting climate action, statewide energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainability.
